For a change of pace from the marble and monument tours, visit the National Zoo. Covering 166 acres above Rock Creek Park, the Zoo exhibits some 5,000 species of animals—from camels and giant cats to elephants and egrets.

Monuments and Museums
Steeped in history, the Washington, DC area is home to numerous monuments. Annual EventsEvery four years each January brings the presidential inauguration, which just took place in January in 2013. Every year, however, brings all kinds of fun, including the MLK Day Festival, the Cherry Blossom Festival, Filmfest DC and the Capital Jazz Fest, just to name a few.
